You maybe heard about XfrogPlants VOLUME 1, or have purchased it. And you still need the best quality 3D content for your scenes. Therefor we have assembled XfrogPlants VOLUME 2, a large Bundle of plants that have even more depth than VOLUME 1.

Why? Because all the plants in VOLUME 2, were built more recently than VOLUME 1. What this means is they are much more accurate models, higher poly counts, and better textures for leaves and bark. AND they have seasons, AND they have 9 variations instead of 3.

Why 9 variations? Because after authoring many ecosystem research papers (including the first ever written), several implementations of real-time ecosystems (see our Research page) and also having spent a year doing a large European Union research representation of every plant contained in a 1 kilometer square patch of ground, we discovered that visually you need at minimum 9 variations of a species to be anywhere close to believable for a good ecosystem. And trust me, we did not invent that number. In XfrogPlants VOLUME 1, all models contain 3 variations, but in VOLUME 2, we went a lot further with variations and seasons.

To be honest we try to always be ahead of technology. Not that many folks could use our high poly models in ecosystems 5 years ago, we got plenty of complaints, but nowadays since we all have instancing renderers our high poly models inside ecosystems are becoming commonplace and necessary for everyone's production work. There is a reason we are used by Disney/Pixar, WETA, Digital Domain, ILM, Sony, and all the rest, and there is a reason you are reading this - we make the most accurate trees. And you want realistic ecosystems, yes? So why buy a single model from our competitors - You do not want to stick the same plant in the ground over and over inside your ecosystem. - instead consider what 9 variations from us means to your realism!

These are not random models, created by pushing a button. Simple randomization of a plant, is not going to give you botanically correct plants. Plants do not simply randomly change: they grow, very specifically according to their species programming over time, and they pass through several distinctly different outline shapes on their way to adulthood. A young sugar maple, a sapling, looks absolutely nothing like a majestic adult sugar maple. So don't image to push a "randomize" button to cut corners on realism. Realism is hard work. Realism is modeling by hand, 1,600 plants. We have done that work for you, so your plants will last for many, many years to come. Our plants are drag and drop - no plugin, no editing needed, and they really are built to last.

We do this because we know you need to create believable ecosystems.

Also unique to our plants, we have included both high quality perspective renders and billboards for each plant. Each is large, non-compressed TIF with embedded alpha cutout, so you can drag and drop these 1,600 plants into Photoshop for quick comps, use them in compositing, or texture them onto single polygons to add a believable low-poly Forest of Oaks, grasses, bushes, etc., to your scene. This is how you want life to be - low-poly plants for backgrounds and high-end, high-poly "Hero" plants for foreground elements.
