XfrogPlants Silky Oak
( Grevillea robusta )

This XfrogPlants Silky Oak 3D model collection contains
nine
highly detailed, fully textured variations of the plant at different ages.
Tree, broadleaf evergreen, broad columnar
Height: can grow up to 35 m., more commonly up to 18 m.
Origin: Eastern Australia
Environment: coastal and riverine rainforests; in full sunlight or light shade; on basaltic soils
Climate: warm, temperate; frost-intolerant; drought-resistant
Notes:The Silky Oak (also known as Australian Silver-oak) grows fast when young, but considerably slows down later. It grows preferably in rain forests, but occasionally also in subtropical and dry forests, as it can withstand drought. It is a frost-intolerant species, so it needs protection when planted young. The wood is much appreciated for the building of musical instruments, particularly guitars. It used to be common also for external window joinery before the advent of aluminum.
