It is commonly used as ornamental species not only in Australia, but also in New Zealand, Hawai’i, and California, where sometimes it escaped cultivation and became invasive. It is a hardy species, well tolerant of difficult temperatures and conditions. The roots are very powerful and can seriously damage urban infrastructures.
