Notes:The Paper Mulberry is a very rustic tree that often colonizes wasted lands and ruined buildings or road edges. It was imported from Asia to Europe in the 18th century as ornamental plant. Because of it’s ability to adapt and grow in difficult conditions, it quickly became an invasive species. In Eastern Asia the soaked bark was used to produce paper (hence the common name). Native Fijians used the bark to make their ceremony clothes.
