Stewart,
Thanks for the info. The new Asia library happens to be one of the most interesting for me, so I'm a bit disappointed that Xfrog5-C4D cannot open its hierarchies. Is it your intent to continue producing new libraries using 3.5, or will new libraries from now on be implemented using Xfrog5-Maya?
I understand the compatibility picture for existing libraries, but am trying to understand what the situation will be for future content -- I'm less interested in importing .c4d versions, so if future libraries will be done using Xfrog5-Maya and Xfrog5-C4D won't be able to load their hierarchies, I'd consider that a significant limitation.
Also, can you provide some detail as to how the surfacing for existing library plants (excluding Landscaping & Asia) import when Xfrog5-C4D opens their .xfr hierarchies? MAXON added a fast new SSS shader in R13, and I'm wondering how difficult it would be to change the leaf materials to incorporate the R13 SSs shader? I also use MaxwellRender for many renders, so better understanding how .xfr-imported plants are surfaced will also let me judge how much effort will be needed to prepare them for rendering using Maxwell.
I'm evaluating for a foliage solution ASAP, so if Xfrog5-C4D meets my requirements, I'm definitely hoping to take advantage of the 30% discount offer.
Thanks!

Instead what we are doing is integrating as far as we can inside each software.
Xfrog 5 for Maya allows local editing of components, as if you had a non-procedural model, but it stays procedural during the editing. As for your question regarding collections, all libraries are made in Xfrog 3.5 and saved as .xfr files, so they can be opened in Xfrog 3.5, Xfrog 5 for c4d and Xfrog 5 for Maya. (With the exception of Landscaping, which uses extensive postwork to do complex trimming, and Asia, which is built with Xfrog 5 for Maya)

Will all general Xfrog5-Maya features eventually be added to Xfrog5-C4D in time, or will Xfrog5-C4D owners have to upgrade to reach equivalent functionality? Finally, for plant sets like the new Asia set, created in Xfrog5-Maya, can their hierarchies also be loaded and edited in Xfrog5-C4D just as in Maya?

I'm extremely interested in the new Asia collection, as well, but only if I can get in there and edit the hierarchies and make my own variations. > > Thanks for any info you can provide!
