160 Free Plants

We are pleased to announce 160 Free 3D Plant Models, our gift to you, so you can see for yourself why we are the industry leader for 3d Plant models.

Visit our Samples Page to download!

Over the past 19 years, we have constructed over 3,000 plant models and translated them in 12 popular formats, and the 160 Free Plants represent one (or more) Species from each of our 31 libraries so you may learn and appreciate both the wide biodiversity and botanical accuracy of our plant libraries. Browse all 31 Libraries with new Interactive XfrogPlants Catalogs

Our models are built in a laborious multi-part process:

First, our experts visit botanical gardens worldwide to photograph and gather the leaf and bark for each plant. (View our English Yew leaf and bark textures). After the gather, we compare our notes and consult our “plant form” reference books to extrapolate the one plant into seasons and ages. We then browse whatever online photos of the leaves, bark, and representative plants we can find, to “final confirm” our seasons and ages. Then we use all the above materials to model the 3 to 9 plant variations needed for each Species to be able to make ecosystems renders.

Because of these painstaking modeling efforts, Xfrog has grown to be the industry leader for 3d plant quality. No other company provides you with procedurally modeled highly accurate plant variations built by botanical experts with real world data.

Please take a moment to browse our stunning Landscapes Gallery to see for yourself, or visit our Trees Gallery and be sure to “zoom in” the renders.

Select XfrogPlants credits include: Avatar, War of the Worlds, Polar Express, The Incredibles, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, and in use by architects as celebrated as: Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry for urban landscaping.

Please Check our Film and TV Gallery for full entertainment industry credits.

Xfrog plants are Procedural systems – our plants are not only available to you in 10 different 3d mesh formats, but also in XFR format (Xfrog) and as such you can animate procedural characteristics such as branching, plant growth, age, variations, or raise or lower polygonal complexity, with our software:
Xfrog 5.3 for Maya, Xfrog 5.3 for Cinema 4D and Xfrog for Windows!

Enjoy !

Well that sucks I missed out on this, but I did grab some that are currently showing on the site. I have never used x-frog before, so I will try them in Vue 2015.

Thank you so much for all the so wonderful freebies, hugs Elke Bassler

  13. Thank you! Mmmm but there are only 39 models… Am I right?? :S

  14. Each species you see includes multiple unique plants – 3 variations in Volume 1, 9 variations in Volume 2.

Having multiple variations of each species allows you to create believable ecosystems, rather than repeating the exact same model over and over.

  15. So…. how “free” are this really when you have to contact you guys about distribution licensing if you want to use it for anything in a game. So what’s the price tag for that?

  16. Thanks a lot…Muchas gracias…remerciements

  17. thanks

  18. thnx

Hello, I’ve been a user of this website and its materials since 2013 if I recall well. I used materials from previous free bundles in my final master project and I am very happy how they looked and I got nothing but best remarks from my professors. Thank you xfrog.
